BECAUSE SOUVENIRS SHOULDN’T JUST COLLECT DUST, THEY SHOULD SPARK MEMORIES
Hand painted from inside for people with discerning taste.
We love NEW YORK. We love SAN FRANCISCO. We love WARM BEACHES and their tropical flowers and sea life
We love LAS VEGAS, we love WASHINGTON D.C.
And we think that products that connect you to these wonderful places should be just as wonderful.
That’s why we created travel souvenirs that are collectible keepsakes that you’ll be proud to display.
All our ornaments are made from hand blown glass, individually painted by hand from the inside of the glass.

I bought this for my parents for our Christmas ornament exchange and they loved it! It was beautifully painted and is obviously originally painted.
This ornament is beautiful. It comes in a very nice stotrage box.
These were great gifts for my family as a remembrance of our Las Vegas trip! The ornaments were very classy and beautifully packaged!
THis ornament was more than I expected. It is truly beautiful!
I had purchased an ornament in Vegas but was broken when I flew home. So I needed another one. This came on a nice gift box and was very pretty. The person who I gave it to had never been to Vegas. I've been many times. The fountain in front of the Bellagio is one of my favorite views. So this was a no brainer choice.
Inside painting is an ancient art form. It originated in the early 1800s by painting inside of Snuff Bottles. Snuff was a mixture of tobacco, herbs and essential oils, all mixed into a fine powder. Ever since, inside painted art – whether snuff bottles, crystal balls, or glass ornaments – continues to be prized by collectors.
First the inside of the ornament is acid washed for the paint to adhere to the glass.
Then the artist creates the painting by inserting a miniature brush through the tiny hole at the top, and painting each minute detail in reverse, often solely by the sense of touch, as the opaque glass does not allow the artist to see the tip of the brush.
The process begins with an outline of the design, then painstakingly filling in the colors one by one in layers, starting with the top layer and finishing with the background.
It takes two years of teaching for an artist to become good enough to paint quality works. Intricate designs like those offered by Patch of Shade take many hours, to paint and requires highly skilled artists for the intricate details of our ornaments.
Each ornament is an original work of art. No two pieces are alike.
